Vera Rulon an accomplished healthcare strategist and thought leader. Her key area of expertise is health information management and use of electronic medical and personal health records for improving the quality of healthcare. In her most recent role at Pfizer, she supported both internal and external medical communications including Pfizer's consumer website, digital strategies, and consumer/patient engagement. She also led the technology and aging work stream for Pfizer's center of excellence for active and health aging. She has served as Chief of Staff for Pfizer's US external medical affairs team and as a Team Lead for Global Trial Master file management. Before Pfizer, Rulon managed the clinical informatics team at Oxford Health Plans and worked in several acute care hospitals in New York and New Jersey.
An accomplished speaker and published writer, she covers topics such as health information management and governance, patient and caregiver engagement, healthcare innovation, leadership, healthy aging and longevity, and digital communication, Rulon is also an official artist for Regina Holliday's Walking Gallery, a Fellow of the American College of Medical Informatimusicology (ACMImimi), and a member of the Society for Participatory Medicine. Rulon is a past president of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and a Fellow of AHIMA. She is the recipient of AHIMA's Distinguished Member, Visionary and Best Practices Triumph Awards. In 2015, Rulon was named a PharmaVoice100 as a change agent, the first credentialed HIM professional to receive this designation.
Rulon is also a founding member and served on the Board of Directors of Arts Angels, Inc, a not-for-profit that supports the arts in public schools. She has also served on several industry committees in support of consumer engagement and use of HIT such as with WEDI and the National Governors Association. She currently sits on the technology and aging workgroup for the International Association for Geriatrics and Gerontology's 2017 conference.
