Council for Excellence in Education (CEE)

Our Purpose:

The CEE is the leading force in education strategy for the profession, guiding the academic community through improvements to education,  coursework, and the curricula of associate, baccalaureate, and graduate programs in HIM and related studies.

Our Vision:

To collaborate with stakeholders and ensure education is positioned as the cornerstone of thriving HIM profession.  Through innovation, research, communication, and transparency, the Council continues to elevate and promote HIM professionals as trusted sources for accurate health information and recognized knowledge brokers.

Our People:

The CEE furthers its purpose and vision through 12 council members and the following six workgroups.

Community Workgroup -  Revitalizes HIM educators' sense of community.

Faculty Development Workgroup -  Creates a spectrum of a faculty development resources, including tutorials for new and apprentice educators, assisting them in becoming effective educators and taking their teaching to the next level.

Educational Programming Workgroup - Plans and executes educational programming for the Academic community - principally the Faculty Development Institute and Assembly on Education symposium (FDI/AOE)- and creates plans for state-level and regional academic events.

Research and Periodicals Workgroup - Engages and leads the academic community in contributions to research and peer-review journals across the healthcare spectrum.

Curricula Workgroup - Maintains state-of-the-art model curricula at all three educational levels.

Workforce Workgroup - Supports the HIM Jobs for America initiative, and presents forward-moving, forward-thinking vision for the Association.
