Leadership Institute - Applying
Before applying, a candidate should be familiar with the program's goals and requirements, dates and locations, tuition, and related costs.

Interested individuals must provide the following information:
Online application: Please address each question. The quality of essays is the primary way the Evaluation Committee members will learn about a candidate's qualifications and evaluate appropriateness for participation in the program.
Current Resume: Resume should include current and past positions with dates of experience. Job descriptions or equivalent documents are not acceptable. Two Letters of Recommendation: Individual must include a letter from ("an appropriate individual", or "an executive") from the candidate's organization endorsing participation in the program and agreeing to all terms and conditions of the program. It should address the candidate's leadership growth and why the individual would benefit from the program. A second letter may come from the candidate's supervisor, peer, or clients and should provide concrete examples of the candidate's leadership capabilities.

- Candidate does not need to complete the application all at once. Entries in the online application should be saved to retain information edits.
- Candidate must click the "Submit" button in order for the application to be considered complete. Once the application is submitted, no further edits or additions may be made.
- A candidate will receive an automated confirmation email when your application submission is completed.
Participant Evaluation Process:
To ensure a high impact learning experience for all program participants, we select candidates from a strong pool of diverse experiences and backgrounds.
Choosing participants is a selective process based on professional achievement and organizational responsibility. We look for professionals who have demonstrated business talent and leadership potential.
To optimize the learning experience and maximize the exchange of ideas, the Evaluation Committee selects a cohort class that balances each participant's experience, the scope of his or her current responsibilities, and the type of organization.
The Evaluation Committee begins reviewing applications five months before the start date. Applicants are notified four months prior to the start date. Applicants are notified four months prior to the start date via email regarding Evaluation Committee decisions.
Successful applicants will have five business days to confirm by email acceptance of the invitation to participate in the Leadership Institute.
Sponsoring organizations agree to relieve individuals of their work responsibilities to participate in program activities.
Applicants must apply again the following year if not selected.
After admission notification, we will send you an invoice via e-mail. Payment is due within thrity (30) days of the invoice date. If admission is within thirty (30) days prior to the start of the program, payment is due upon receipt of the invoice. Regardless of when you receive the invoice, payment is required prior to the program start date. We accept payment by company check payable to the AHIMA Foundation, bank wire transfer, or credit card (American Expres, Mastercard and Visa) payable online or via phone.
If you need to cancel or defer participation, you must submit your request in writing more than thrity (30) days before the program start date to receive a full refund. Due to program demand and the volume of pre-program preparation, cancellations or deferrals received fourteen (14) to thirty (30) days before the program start date are subject to a payment of fifty (50) percent of the program fee. Requests received within fourteen (14) days of the program start date are subject to full payment of the program fee.
