Advancing health to transform lives

Health information empowers people to make healthcare decisions with confidence. Our programs advance health to transform lives by:

  • Helping people access, use, and protect their health information
  • Delivering best-in-class workforce development training
  • Educating the next generation of health information professionals
  • Informing policy decisions through applied research

The AHIMA Foundation is dedicated to an awareness of the needs of public health, recognizing that health information is human information. Through the generous support of our donors, we provide resources that help families make informed health decisions, provide education and training to emerging health information professionals and conduct research to expand access to health information career opportunities

Founded in 1962 and established as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in 1997, the AHIMA Foundation is dedicated to an awareness of the needs of public health, recognizing that health information is human information. The AHIMA Foundation provides information to guide personal health decisions, research to develop healthcare system policies and continuous training to equip inspiring and current health information professionals.
